Samenvatting
This research utilizes qualitative data to answer the question, “How can a care label encourage emotional connection for a consumer-garment relationship?”. The understanding of numerous emotionally durable design theories and the development of a care label have built the base for this research. The foundation for understanding consumer connection to care label usage comes from Ginetex’s barometers from 2023 and 2024. This knowledge is used to develop the qualitative interviews and workshops, furthering our understanding of consumer perspectives on this topic. The interviews explore the emotional connection a consumer has to their favorite garment and their general relationship with the care label. The generative co-creation workshops focus on developing concepts with the consumer to create their ideal care label. The research yields a product recommendation or example for companies, suggesting care labels that encourage consumer attachment to their garments, thereby enhancing the garments' longevity and overall sustainability for the fashion industry.
