The Dutch Transmission System Operator (TSO) TenneT TSO B.V. is planning to build a 2 km to 4 km long 150 kV superconducting cable connection in the Dutch high voltage grid. Superconducting cable systems allow for connections with no external magnetic field which is beneficial due to society's concerns …

In order to determine whether small-sided game (SSG) locomotor performance can serve as a fitness indicator, we (1) compared 6-a-side (6v6) SSG-intensity of players varying in fitness and skill, (2) examined the relationship of the 6v6-SSG and Yo-Yo IR2 and (3) assessed the reliability of the 6v6-SSG. …

Purpose: Using the global financial crisis as a critical event and based on institutional theory and stakeholder theory, this paper aims to explore the relationship between corporate governance and corporate social responsibility (CSR). The question is how stakeholders can influence corporate responses …

In this study, the effect of strapping rowers to their sliding seat on performance during 75 m on-water starting trials was investigated. Well-trained rowers performed 75 m maximum-effort starts using an instrumented single scull equipped with a redesigned sliding seat system, both under normal conditions …

In this paper we present a methodology to measure the energy consumption of software. The methodology is based on detailed monitoring of power usage of hardware components. We explain our lab setup after which we apply the methodology to different pieces of DNS resolver software. Through this case study …

The ‘pay gap’ is a relatively new term. However, it is a problem that was developed around the beginning of the 20th century, the moment when women were allowed to hold a paid occupation in the Netherlands and Norway. The pay gap, often confused with unequal pay for the same work, is actually a complex …

This thesis describes the history of the Soviet Union, the enlargement of the EU and NATO and the possible factors that have influenced Russia’s decision to commit the invasion of Georgia in 2008 and to annex the Crimea in 2014. The central question of the research compares the two responses from the …

Groeblacher Labs, at the TU Delft tries to achieve entanglement using optomechanical resonators like nanobeams. This is done by using the side peaks generated by the optomechanical resonators. These peaks are separated by 5 GHz in relation to the resonance peak of the optomechanical resonator. Because …

In this thesis the workings of a time-resolved setup are treated as well as the underlying physics. The setup is based on optical gating, which gives control over very short moments in time to let light pass through a gate. As this process is stable, light can be studied in very short and low intensities. …
