Children with cerebral palsy must perform daily exercise which is a tedious and energy consuming task. Exergames can make this routine more engaging, which can increase the compliance of the patient. This research explores the feasibility of an exergame device called the Squid Monster. The device is …

For almost 25 years, the goal of the RoboCup has been to build soccer robots capable of winning against the FIFA World Champion of 2050. To foster the participation of the next generation of roboticists, the RoboCupJunior competition takes place in parallel and provides a similar challenge of appropriate …

Wearable inertial sensors (WIS) facilitate the preservation of the athlete-environment relationship by allowing measurement outside the laboratory. WIS systems should be validated for team sports movements before they are used in sports performance and injury prevention research. The aim of the present …

In section 1 the problem definition is 5 % of all kids in the Netherlands suffer from dysfunctional breathing (Ludden, Mader, van Rees, & Siering, 2019). The research group S&FT has a project: the WBT. This project focuses on personalised care for children ages 6-12 with breathing disorders by means …

We aim to set up a continuous low cost monitoring system for electromagnetic fields in the Netherlands, so that a trend in exposure to 5G signals can be observed. A number of options will be explored for this, such as software-defined radio and measurement nodes for specific 5G frequencies. We developed …

Dwellings and systems are becoming ever more complex. In achieving high energy performances, the interaction among user, building and systems plays an increasingly crucial role. We studied this interaction in 16 recently renovated low-energy dwellings, to advance the field in terms of methods, and to …

The present invention refers to an autonomous road transport system based on autonomous vehicles operating similarly to trains on railways. In this system, a regular road vehicle, such as a car, bus or truck, can be properly equipped with sensors and computers to drive itself, guided by virtual tracks …

Modifiable (biomechanical and neuromuscular) anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury risk factors have been identified in laboratory settings. These risk factors were subsequently used in ACL injury prevention measures. Due to the lack of ecological validity, the use of on-field data in the ACL injury …

Data, the raw material from which information is derived, is stored, copied, moved and modified more easily than ever. This quantum leap reaches levels outside our imagination. Surrounded by sensors, recommendation systems, invisible algorithms, spreadsheets and blockchains, the ‘difference that makes …

The flexible strain sensors have been a topic of interest for multiple studies in the past years. These sensors are soft, bendable mechanisms, which can be applied to substrates through printing or other means. They can indicate longitudinal strain through resistance change, which means that they can …
