As urban environments increasingly adopt automated technologies for municipal enforcement, this paper interrogates the erosion of human judgment, discretion, and interaction in public space governance. Drawing on participatory design workshops within the “Human Values for Smarter Cities” project, the …

3D lithography by two-photon photopolymerization enables the fabrication of complex microstructures that incorporate nanomaterials assembled in a controlled manner. This technology holds promise in various fields such as optics, photonics, biology, and nanomedicine. It is also being used in the renewable …

The Sloe area is an unembanked industrial port area in Zeeland. As sea levels rise, this area will experience increased flood risks. This is partly due to climate change, which is causing sea level rise to accelerate, and partly due to the area's vulnerability because it is located outside the dike ring, …

Acknowledging the knowledge gaps and novel paradigms outlined above within both coaching research and practice, the PhD research aims to investigate how need-supportive coaching—rooted in Self-Determination Theory (SDT)—effectively fulfils the satisfaction of beginning teachers’ basic psychological needs …

This paper highlights the use of State Space Grids (SSGs) for studying real-time classroom discourse in an intervention targeting professional development. State Space Grid analysis is both a powerful way to visualise patterns in interactional data, and a starting point for further quantitative analysis. …

This review offers a detailed examination of the current landscape of radio frequency (RF) electromagnetic field (EMF) assessment tools, ranging from spectrum analyzers and broadband field meters to area monitors and custom-built devices. The discussion encompasses both standardized and non-standardized …

The inefficiency of maintaining static and long-lasting safety zones in environments where actual risks are limited is likely to increase in the coming decades, as autonomous systems become more common and human workers fewer in numbers. Nevertheless, an uncompromising approach to safety remains paramount, …

Background It can be very challenging for practitioners to talk with autistic children, especially when the conversation calls for self-regulation. Self-regulation is inextricably linked to awareness of oneself and others in social contexts. Encouraging the need for autonomy could help increase self-awareness …

Sensors in offices mainly measure environmental data, missing qualitative insights into office workers’ perceptions. This opens the opportunity for active individual participation in data collection. To promote reflection on office well-being while overcoming experience sampling challenges in terms of …

Dealing with and maintaining high-quality standards in the design and construction phases is challenging, especially for on-site construction. Issues like improper implementation of building components and poor communication can widen the gap between design specifications and actual conditions. To prevent …
