Public charging points are essential for the transition to electric mobility, but there is a lack of knowledge on electric vehicle (EV) drivers’ perceptions of explicit social norms regarding the appropriate usage of these shared charging points. Communicating to EV drivers how other EV drivers believe …

Background This research study applied the 'Integrated Energy Landscape Approach and the Ecosystem Services Framework' to formulate a pre-proposal for a Positive Energy District in the Hoogkerk Zuid neighborhood in Groningen, the Netherlands. Results The proposed energy saving and energy generation interventions …

While there is much focus on interventions to foster ethical reflection in the design process of AI, there is less focus on fostering ethical reflection for (end)users. Yet, with the rise of genAI, AI technologies are no longer confined to expert users; non-experts are widely using these technologies. …

The building and construction industry, which is responsible for 39% of global carbon emissions, is far off track in achieving its net-zero emission targets. Product-service system (PSS) business models are one of the instruments used by the industry in the transition toward reaching these targets. A …

Learner metacognition is one of the most influential factors that positively affects learning. Previous work shows that game-based learning can contribute to supporting and developing metacognitive knowledge and skills of learners. While there are many specific examples of such games, it remains unclear …

The European common cuttlefish (Sepia officinalis) makes use of undulatory locomotion through its lateral fins. This type of locomotion shows good potential for application for underwater vehicle thrust because it gives the user advantages like maneuverability, stable station keeping, and energy efficiency. …

A resource optimization methodology is proposed for application in long range wide area networks (LoRaWANs). Using variable neighborhood search (VNS) and a minimum-cost spanning tree algorithm, it reduces the implementation and the maintenance costs of such low power networks. Performance evaluations …

This research investigates power optimization in Thread mesh wireless networks through an algorithmic approach, aiming to reduce overall power consumption while maintaining reliable network performance. Transmission power serves as a key parameter for achieving energy efficiency, and the study focuses …

Decentralised renewable energy production in the form of fuels or electricity can have large scale deployment in future energy systems, but the feasibility needs to be assessed. The novelty of this paper is in the design and implementation of a mixed integer linear programming optimisation model to minimise …

The impact of the construction industry on the natural environment is severe, natural areas are changedinto predominantly hard solid surfaces, the energy use in the built environment is high and the industryputs huge claims on materials
