The search for existing non-animal alternative methods for use in experiments is currently challenging because of the lack of both comprehensive structured databases and balanced keyword-based search strategies to mine unstructured textual databases. In this paper we describe 3Ranker, which is a fast, …

City governments increasingly experiment with civic participation in the procurement and the realization of smart city technologies in order to improve the incorporation of human values. In this paper, a model is proposed with the level of participation, the continuity of participation and the extent …

This position paper is part of a long-term research project on human-machine co-creativity with older adults. The goal is to investigate how robots and AI-generated content can contribute to older adults’ creative experiences, with a focus on collaborative drawing and painting. The research has recently …

In this project, several prototypes have been built and researched. The finished implementation is a software library written in the Flutter framework, which manages the collection of travel data, and the classification of this data via an on-device machine-learning model. Additional prototypes include …

This graduation report investigates the creation of an artificial intelligence-based tool for producing HTML Bootstrap code from images and codes description text provided by the user. The goal of this project is to automate the conversion of images and code description text into accurate HTML Bootstrap …

In this work, a feasible and low-cost approach is proposed for level measurement in multiphase systems inside tanks used for petroleum-derived oil production. The developed level sensor system consisted of light-emitting diodes (LEDs), light-dependent resistor (LDR), and a low-cost microprocessor. Two …

The recent advancements in machine learning (ML) techniques have significantly improved the performance in various natural language processing (NLP) tasks, particularly in deep learning with the transformer architecture. Despite their promising applications in different domains, these innovations have …

The use of machine learning in embedded systems is an interesting topic, especially with the growth in popularity of the Internet of Things (IoT). The capacity of a system, such as a robot, to self-localize, is a fundamental skill for its navigation and decision-making processes. This work focuses on …

Nowadays, one of the major current health risks is excessive sitting during work hours. Furthermore, the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic and the corresponding government state of emergency forced many people to work from home. These constraints carried out an important change in the lifestyle …
