This study focuses on the feasibility of electric aircraft operations between the Caribbean islands of Aruba, Bonaire, and Curaçao. It explores the technical characteristics of two different future electric aircraft types (i.e., Alice and ES-19) and compares their operational requirements with those …

The contemporary use of resources in the ‘take-make-waste’ economy accounts for 70% of global greenhouse gas emissions, demonstrating unsustainable patterns of consumption and production. Therefore, the status quo of business operations needs to be changed. This study aims to find out how a circular …

This opinion chapter discusses the advantages of foresight under a systemic macrocognitive approach for the safe and effective deployment of technological innovations in aviation. Although microcognitive studies aid the understanding of interfaces between innovative systems and their users, this chapter …

Optimization of aviation maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) operations has been of high interest in recent years for both the knowledge institutions and the industrial community as a total of approximately $70 billion has been spent on MRO activities in 2018 which represents around 10% of an airline’s …

Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer (HBOC) typically arises from mutations inherited in the germline. BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutaions are predominant contributors to HBOC, accounting for the majority of cases. These mutations are associated with 10% of ovarian cancer cases and 3-5% of breast cancer cases [4]. BRCA1 …

Background ICU patients lose muscle mass rapidly and maintenance of muscle mass may contribute to improved survival rates and quality of life. Protein provision may be beneficial for preservation of muscle mass and other clinical outcomes, including survival. Current protein recommendations are expert-based …

An important step towards improving performance while reducing weight and maintenance needs is the integration of composite materials into mechanical and aerospace engineering. This subject explores the many aspects of composite application, from basic material characterization to state-of-the-art advances …

Objectives To assess if nutritional interventions informed by indirect calorimetry (IC), compared to predictive equations, show greater improvements in achieving weight goals, muscle mass, strength, physical and functional performance. Design Quasi-experimental study. Setting and Participants Geriatric …

As the year passes, keeping themselves afloat has become more challenging for the Netherlands. Climate change and sea level rise are primary factors influencing the maintenance and reinforcement of the country's dikes system. Therefore, a new Delta Plan has been implemented to make the dikes system climate-proof …
